Autumn produce guide: March

Yep, believe it or not, we’re already into the first month of autumn for 2015. And while we may not feel the effects of the cooling conditions until the backend of this month/early April, every new season brings with it different in-season produce. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at which fruits and vegetables you can enjoy during March.

Fruits

There’s a huge array of fruits in season during March, and the variety makes them great for something refreshing and delicious. For those living in the hotter parts of Australia, refreshing is a key benefit here.

  • Apples
  • Bananas
  • Figs
  • Fuji Fruit
  • Grapes
  • Guava
  • Kiwifruit
  • Limes
  • Mangosteens
  • Nashi
  • Oranges; particularly Valencia
  • Passionfruit
  • Pawpaw
  • Pears
  • Plums
  • Pomegranates
  • Quinces
  • Tamarillo

Vegetables

On the vegetable front, there’s a good amount of choice, as well. Of course, technically, as noted in the past, tomatoes are indeed a fruit, but their culinary purposes tend to always fall more in line with vegetables. You’ve got plenty here to put together a delicious salad or a roast, which could be great this time of the year for the cooler parts of Australia.

  • Asian greens
  • Beans
  • Broccoli
  • Capsicums
  • Cucumbers
  • Eggplant
  • Lettuce
  • Okra
  • Onions
  • Potatoes
  • Pumpkin
  • Sweetcorn
  • Tomatoes
  • Zucchini
  • Cabbage
