The Health Benefits of Fruit

We’ve all heard the saying, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” In many ways, this is very much the truth.

But the health benefits of fruit are certainly not just restricted to apples. The majority of commercially available fruits are certainly good for your health – both physical and mental. We’ve taken a look at five different fruits to share their benefits with you.

It seems fitting to start with apples, given how much recognition they get for good health. This is certainly what they do. Rich in fibre and antioxidants, apples have numerous positive influences on your health. Not only do they lower your cholesterol, but they also reduce your risk of cancer, strokes and heart disease.

2. Bananas

Full of potassium, bananas are a fantastic energy source that lowers the risk of high blood pressure and stroke. Another fact worth noting is that bananas have built a reputation of helping with depression of all kinds. By having three regular sized bananas a day, you’ll find yourself feeling much more relaxed and less worried.

3. Kiwifruit

Kiwifruit is a fantastic source of numerous vitamins including A, C and E. It also gives you healthy doses of potassium and magnesium. On the health front, it assists in boosting your immune system and reduces the chances and severity of respiratory diseases.

4. Rockmelon

Vitamin C, potassium and antioxidants are contained in rockmelon. This leads to a boost in your immune system, reduced inflammation and a hand in preventing cancer. Rockmelon even helps protect your skin from sunburn.

5. Berries

Last but not least, various berries include high levels of vitamin C and antioxidants, and they certainly protect you from a slew of health problems. Berries protect against strokes, cancer, heart disease and numerous other diseases. It’s even surmised that blueberries and strawberries help slow down mental decline later in life.
